Verdane Backs Xpansiv Capital Raise To Fund Registry Acquisitions

European growth investor Verdane is leading an undisclosed capital raise at Xpansiv, whose registries managed 28% of 2025 global REC issuance across 60+ countries and 320+ GW of renewable capacity.

Waypoints

  1. Xpansiv's renewable-energy registries managed 28% of all RECs issued worldwide in 2025.

  2. Verdane is leading the capital raise at Xpansiv; financial terms remain undisclosed.

  3. Xpansiv's network spans 320+ GW of renewable capacity across 60+ countries, accounting for 4% of global electricity generation and 7% of renewable generation.

  4. Verdane has raised €10 billion ($11.4 billion) since 2003 across more than 200 investments.

  5. Xpansiv's stack processes hundreds of millions of energy-and-environmental asset transfers annually.

Xpansiv's renewable-energy registries managed 28% of every renewable-energy certificate issued worldwide in 2025, anchoring a fresh capital raise led by European growth investor Verdane, the companies said Tuesday. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The strategic partnership injects growth equity into one of the largest operators of energy-and-environmental commodity infrastructure at a moment when corporate buyers are scaling renewable-energy procurement and seeking verified access to carbon and clean-fuel credits alongside RECs.

What does the Verdane partnership unlock?

The capital raise extends an acquisitions track record that already reshaped the environmental-markets infrastructure sector. Targets Xpansiv absorbed in recent years include:

  • APX, an energy-and-environmental registry-infrastructure provider
  • Evolution Markets, a market-execution services firm
  • Evident, the UK operator of the I-REC(E) renewable-energy registry

Xpansiv said the new financing lets it move faster on technologies that complement its own development pipeline rather than duplicate them.

What scale does the platform already operate at?

Xpansiv's registries cover more than 320 gigawatts of renewable-generation capacity across more than 60 countries. The company positions its network at roughly 4% of global electricity generation and 7% of renewable generation worldwide.

Its technology processes transfers involving hundreds of millions of assets each year — renewable-energy certificates, carbon credits and clean-fuel credits — through registries, marketplaces and data services that connect corporations, utilities and traders.

Xpansiv is also deploying AI-enabled tools across its registry infrastructure to accelerate verification, strengthen auditability and cut administrative load across the markets it serves.

What does Verdane bring?

Verdane has raised €10 billion (nearly $11.4 billion) since its 2003 founding and completed more than 200 investments, according to the company. The firm runs offices across Berlin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, London, Munich, Oslo and Stockholm and employs roughly 180 staff.

A London-based Principal at Verdane, Melanie Campbell, framed the partnership as a bet on integrated registry-plus-marketplace platforms.

"Infrastructure of this kind takes years to build, and no one else has assembled it end to end. We look forward to partnering with Xpansiv and helping it scale to meet growing global demand for its platform," Campbell said.

What milestone decides the next move?

The strategic financing arrives as demand for verified carbon and clean-fuel credits continues to climb alongside renewable-energy procurement. The decision point the market will track next is Xpansiv's first disclosed acquisition under the Verdane funding.

The price paid for that target will reset valuation benchmarks across environmental-market infrastructure and data services. Until that close, Xpansiv's monthly data feeds — already pricing hundreds of millions of asset transfers a year — will offer the read-through on whether integration of new asset classes dilutes or strengthens the platform's market position.
