Waste Management has issued a public statement on trash collection operations as the Hawk Fire continues to burn through its Nevada service territory, confirming that fire activity is directly affecting haulage routes in the region.

The company addressed the situation in coverage carried by KTVN 2 News under its Fire Watch segment, responding to customer inquiries about missed pickups and service continuity while crews and emergency responders operate in the area.

What does the fire change for collection?

Wildfire activity routinely forces haulers to suspend or reroute residential collection when evacuation zones, road closures or active fire lines overlap with scheduled routes. Waste Management's decision to speak publicly indicates customers in the affected area should expect schedule disruptions until conditions stabilize.

What should residents track next?

The service question resolves with the fire's containment. Until fire authorities lift restrictions and reopen affected corridors, collection schedules in the Hawk Fire footprint remain subject to change, and any missed-service makeups will follow the operator's posted adjustments.
